Australia's livestock industry spans vast distances, harsh conditions and some of the strictest traceability obligations in the world. The technology available to producers has not kept pace.
Existing identification and monitoring tools tend to be built for high-density, well-connected farming systems. They struggle with patchy connectivity, heat and dust, and they do not align cleanly with Australia's national traceability framework. Producers are left stitching together hardware, spreadsheets and manual records.
The company behind WelfarmID is developing a novel, single integrated system that brings identification, live tracking, welfare monitoring and traceability together, and validating it under real Australian field conditions. The work is structured as a multi-year research and development program, beginning with the 2026 pilot and progressing toward national accreditation and scale.
The objective is a validated, commercial-ready platform that meets both the practical needs of Australian producers and the country's compliance standards, with real-time animal welfare insight delivered from the paddock to the registry.

Records structured to support national traceability, with NLIS accreditation as a staged objective.
